Albin Gutman
Albin Gutman (born 17 December 1947, in Novo Mesto) is a Slovene general, who was Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces (from 1 July 2006 to 5 May 2009). He is the only person in history of Slovenian Armed Forces who was twice on this position (first mandate was from 1993 to 1998). Slovenian War
The Ten-Day War ( sl, desetdnevna vojna), or the Slovenian War of Independence (), was a brief armed conflict that followed Slovenia's declaration of independence from Yugoslavia on 25 June 1991. It was fought between the separatists of the Slovenian Territorial Defence and the Yugoslav People's Army (or JNA). It lasted from 27 June 1991 until 7 July 1991, when the Brioni Accords were signed. It was the second of the Yugoslav wars to start in 1991, following the Croatian War of Independence, and by far the shortest of the conflicts with fewest overall casualties. Novo Mesto
Novo Mesto (; sl, Novo mesto; also known by other alternative names) is a city on a bend of the Krka River in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. The town is traditionally considered the economic and cultural centre of the historical Lower Carniola region. Name Novo Mesto was attested in historical sources in 1365 as ''Růdolfswerde'' (and as ''Rudolfswerd'' in 1392 and ''Noua Mesta'' in 1419). The German name (spelled ''Rudolfswerth'' in the modern era) is a compound of the personal name ''Rudolf'' and ''wert'' 'island, peninsula, land above the water', and refers to Rudolf IV, Duke of Austria, who conferred town rights upon the settlement in 1365.
