Estádio Governador Alberto Tavares Silva, also known as Albertão is a multi-purpose stadium in Teresina, Brazil. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it is the home stadium of River Atlético Clube and Esporte Clube Flamengo. The stadium holds 44,200. The stadium is owned by the government of Piauí state and is named after Alberto Tavares Silva, who was Piauí governor between 1971 and 1975. Due to safety concerns, maximum capacity for events at the stadium is further limited by the fire department. The limit has been increased from 13,500 to 25,000 before the 2022 season. Eight people died during mass panic when the stadium's inauguration, which broke out when a spectator shouted that the stadium was collapsing. River Atlético Clube, commonly referred to as River, is a Brazilian professional club based in Teresina, Piauí founded on 1 March 1946. It competes in the Campeonato Piauiense, the top flight of the Piauí state football league. River is currently ranked third among Piauí teams in CBF's national club ranking, at 107th place overall. Esporte Clube Flamengo, or usually called Flamengo do Piauí, are a Brazilian football team from Teresina in Piauí, Brazil founded on December 8, 1937. Their home stadium is the Albertão, which has a maximum capacity of 60,000 people. Their kit is black and red shirts, black shorts and red and black socks. Flamengo has competed in the Série A several times. Despite having the same name and colors, they should not be confused with the more well known and popular Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro. Teresina is the capital and most populous municipality in the Brazilian state of Piauí.
