Alberto Ricardo Da Silva
Alberto Ricardo da Silva (4 April 1943 – 2 April 2015) was the Roman Catholic bishop of Dili, East Timor. Early life He was born in Aileu, in East Timor when it was still a Portuguese colony. He studied in the minor seminary of Dili and was sent to Macao to study philosophy, and to Portugal to study theology in the major seminary of Leiria. Career He was ordained a priest on 15 August 1972 in Portugal and served as vicar general of Dili 1980-1992. He held a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Father da Silva's duties included spiritual director and later rector at the Seminary of Our Lady of Fatima in Dare. He was rector of the Major Seminary of SS Peter and Paul in Dili at the time of his episcopal appointment. Baucau
Baucau ( pt, Baucau, tet, Baukau) is the second-largest city in East Timor, after Dili, the capital, which lies to its west. Baucau has about 16,000 inhabitants, and is the capital of Baucau municipality, located in the eastern part of the country. VirgÃlio do Carmo da Silva SDB (born 27 November 1967) is an East Timorese Roman Catholic prelate who was appointed bishop of Dili on 30 January 2016. On 27 August 2022, Pope Francis announced he would make him a cardinal, the first from East Timor. Biography VirgÃlio do Carmo da Silva was born on 27 November 1967 in Venilale. He was the son of José do Carmo and Isabel da Silva. After attending Salesian primary and secondary schools in Fatumaca, he joined the Salesians of Don Bosco on 31 May 1990. He then studied in the Philippines, philosophy in Canlubang and theology in Parañaque. World Youth Day (WYD) is an event for young people organized by the Catholic Church that was initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1985, sometimes nicknamed in later years as the "Catholic Woodstock".
