Alberto Górriz
Alberto Górriz Echarte (born 16 February 1958) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played mainly as a central defender. His main asset was his heading ability, and he often scored from set pieces. He spent his entire career with Real Sociedad, appearing in nearly 600 official matches and winning four major titles. Górriz represented Spain at the 1990 World Cup. Club career A Real Sociedad youth graduate, Górriz was born in Irun, Gipuzkoa, and played solely for the Basques, making his first-team debut on 8 April 1979 in a 4–0 away win against Rayo Vallecano. From his third season – where Real won the La Liga title – onwards he was a defensive stalwart until the 1991–92 campaign, with 31 games as his minimum output, often being partnered by Agustín Gajate who also only played for one professional club. 1990 FIFA World Cup Qualification (UEFA)
The European (UEFA) zone of qualification for the 1990 FIFA World Cup saw 32 teams competing for 13 places at the finals. UEFA members Italy qualified automatically as hosts of the finals. The qualification process started on 21 May 1988 and ended on 18 November 1989. Format Teams were drawn into seven groups, four groups of five teams and three of four teams. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. Atotxa ( es, Atocha) was a association football, football stadium in San Sebastián, Spain. It was the home ground of Real Sociedad until 1993 when it was replaced by Anoeta Stadium. It had superseded Ondarreta Stadium 80 years earlier. It had a capacity of 17,000 spectators.
