The Albert V. Bryan United States Courthouse is a United States courthouse of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. It is located at 401 Courthouse Square (2200 Jamieson Avenue) in Alexandria, Va., and was built in the early 1990s. It was named in honor of U.S. District Court judge Albert V. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (in case citations, E.D. Va.) is one of two United States district courts serving the Commonwealth of Virginia. It has jurisdiction over the Northern Virginia, Hampton Roads, and Richmond metro areas and surrounding locations with courthouses located in Alexandria, Norfolk, Richmond and Newport News (whose judges are shared with Norfolk). John Warner
John William Warner III (February 18, 1927 – May 25, 2021) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the United States Secretary of the Navy from 1972 to 1974 and as a five-term Republican U.S. Senator from Virginia from 1979 to 2009. Warner served as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee from 1999 to 2001, and again from 2003 to 2007. He also served as the Chair of the Senate Rules Committee from 1995 to 1999. Warner was a veteran of the Second World War and Korean War, and was one of five World War II veterans serving in the Senate at the time of his retirement. He did not seek reelection in 2008. After leaving the Senate, he worked for the law firm of Hogan Lovells, where he had previously been employed before joining the United States Department of Defense as the Under Secretary of the Navy during the presidency of Richard Nixon in 1969. State Route 400 (SR 400) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. Locally known as Washington Street, the state highway runs from the south city limit of the independent city of Alexandria, Virginia north to 1st Street, still within Alexandria.
