Poet
A poet is a person who studies and creates poetry. Poets may describe themselves as such or be described as such by others. A poet may simply be the creator ( thinker, songwriter, writer, or author) who creates (composes) poems (oral or written), or they may also perform their art to an audience. The work of a poet is essentially one of communication, expressing ideas either in a literal sense (such as communicating about a specific event or place) or metaphorically. Poets have existed since prehistory, in nearly all languages, and have produced works that vary greatly in different cultures and periods. Throughout each civilization and language, poets have used various styles that have changed over time, resulting in countless poets as diverse as the literature that (since the advent of writing systems) they have produced. Aleksandër Stavre Drenova
Aleksandër Stavre Drenova (; 11 April 187211 December 1947), commonly known by the pen name Asdreni, was an Albanians, Albanian poet, rilindas, translator, writer and the author of the poem which later became the national anthem of Albania. He is regarded as one of the most influential Albanian literature, Albanian writers of the 20th century and composed most of his Albanian Renaissance-inspired known works during that period. Born in the village of Drenovë, Asdreni completed his academic studies at the University of Bucharest in Romania where he enthusiastically committed himself to the Declaration of independence of Albania, Independence of Albania from the Ottoman Empire. He maintained close liaison with fellow Gjergj Fishta and Lasgush Poradeci and was notably inspired by the patriots Girolamo de Rada and Naim Frashëri. Loni Logori
Loni Logori (1871–1929) was an Albanian-Egyptian entrepreneur, poet, and activist of the Albanian National Awakening. Life Logori was born in 1871 in Korçë, back then still part of the Vilayet of Monastir of the Ottoman Empire. Like many other people from his region, he had to emigrate at a young age. Logori settled in Egypt at the age of 13. There he received his education; Logori graduated from the French Lyceum of Alexandria. He was actively involved in the Albanian patriotic circles there. He maintained contacts with members of the Albanian ''émigré'' community in Bucharest, Istanbul, Italy, and Brussels. In 1909, he represented the colony of Egypt in the Congress of Elbasan, where the foundations of the Albanian education were set. He lived in Egypt for most of hist life (58 years). Shahin Frashëri
Shahin Frashëri was an Albanian bejtexhi of the 19th century. His ''Mukhtarnameh'' poem is one of the longest and earliest epics in Albanian literature. Life and work Shahin (Shahinin) Kaso Frashëri was born in Frashër, today's Përmet District, back then part of the Janina Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. Naim Frashëri
Naim bey Frashëri, more commonly Naim Frashëri (; ; 25 May 184620 October 1900), was an Albanian historian, journalist, poet, rilindas and translator who was proclaimed as the national poet of Albania. He is regarded as the pioneer of modern Albanian literature and one of the most influential Albanian cultural icons of the 19th century. Naim and his brothers Abdyl and Sami were born and raised in the village of Frashër at the southern slopes of the Tomorr Mountains. He became acquainted with numerous cultures and languages such as Arabic, Ancient and Modern Greek, French, Italian, Ottoman Turkish and Persian. He was one of the few men to whom the literary culture of the Occident and Orient was equally familiar and valuable. Gjergj Fishta
Gjergj Fishta (; 23 October 187130 December 1940) was an Albanian Franciscan friar, poet, educator, politician, rilindas, translator and writer. He is regarded as one of the most influential Albanian writers of the 20th century due to his epic masterpiece ''Lahuta e Malcís'' and the editor of two of the most authoritative magazines after Albania's independence, ''Posta e Shypniës'' and ''Hylli i Dritës''. Notably being the chairman of the commission of the Congress of Manastir, which sanctioned the Albanian alphabet, he was part of the Albanian delegation to the Versailles Conference, 1919. In 1921 he was a member and became the deputy chairman of the Albanian parliament, later on in the '20s and the '30s he was among the most influential cultural and literary figures in Albania. Abedin Dino
Abedin bey Dino ( tr, Prevezeli Abeddin Bey Dino), also Abedin Pasha ( tr, Prevezeli Abidin Paşa; 5 April 1843, in Preveza – 9 May 1906, in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire) was an Albanian people, Albanian patriot, politician, ideologue and diplomat. As a ''rilindas'' involved in the Albanian National Awakening, he was one of the founders of the League of Prizren and its chief representative for Epirus (1878). Qamil Çami
Qamil Izet Çami (January 4, 1875 – September 26, 1933) was an Albanian rilindas, poet, and teacher. He and other rilindas from his area opened the first Albanian-language school of Filiates in 1908 . Life Qami Çami was born in Filiates, then a town of the Ottoman empire on January 4, 1875. In his youth he became a member of the literary club of Albanian students of Ioannina. After graduating in Istanbul he was appointed minor prefect of Sagiada in 1905. In 1907 also starting working as a teacher in the Ottoman school of his town, Filiates and taught written Albanian secretly. On August 25, 1908 along with other rilindas opened the first Albanian-language school of Filiates and became its headmaster. The funds were provided by the people of Filiates, such as Musa Demi, rilindas of the area and by other notable Cham Albanians like Rasih Dino, son of Abedin Dino.
