State Route 73 (SR 73), is a state highway in the U.S. state of Alabama. The southern terminus of the highway is at an intersection with SR 71 in Higdon north to the Tennessee state line, where it becomes Tennessee State Route 377 (SR 377). SR 73 travels through rural areas in eastern Jackson County, serving the community of Bryant. Route description SR 73 begins at an intersection with SR 71 in the community of Higdon, heading north on a two-lane undivided road. The highway heads through rural areas of farms and woods with some homes, curving to the northwest. The highway heads north again as it crosses under several power lines radiating from the Widows Creek Power Plant along the Tennessee River. Cherokee County, Alabama is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,971. Its county seat is Centre. The county is named for the Cherokee tribe. History The area included in today's Cherokee County, for centuries, had belonged to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Native Americans. Lindberg in 1909, was one of the "Big Three" road map publishers in the United States from 1930 to 1970, along with H.M. Gousha and Rand McNally.General Drafting Co., Inc. company brochure, 1982. Rock Run is an unincorporated community in Cherokee County, Alabama, United States. Rock Run is located on County Route 29, southeast of Centre. History Rock Run had its start as a mining community, and may have been named from a run on the rocks containing iron ore. According to another story, a settler climbing a hill dislodged a rock, and watching it roll down the hill, said "Look at that rock run!" A post office operated under the name Rock Run from 1883 to 1957. State Route 62 (SR 62), also known as Monsanto Road, is a state highway near Guntersville in Marshall County. The highway heads east from lakeside homes and marinas along Lake Guntersville to SR 227 near Guntersville. SR 62 previously provided access to a (now abandoned) Monsanto plant, for which it was built and named. Route description History The current incarnation of SR 62 was designated in 1995. Before then, the roadway was an unsigned county route.
