Unity State
Unity State, also known as Western Upper Nile, is a state in South Sudan. Unity state is in the Greater Upper Nile region. Unity is inhabited predominantly by two ethnic groups: the Nuer majority, and the Dinka minority. In 2015, a presidential decree established a new system of 28 states, replacing the previously established 10. Unity state was replaced by the states of Ruweng, Northern Liech and Southern Liech. Unity State was re-established by a peace agreement signed on 22 February 2020 with smaller boundaries as the northern part of the former state became the Ruweng Administrative Area. ''Al Wahda'' (Arabic الوحدة; ''Unity'') is an Arabic daily newspaper published in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Founded in 1973 the daily is one of the oldest publications in the country. History and profile ''Al Wahda'' was established by Rashed Al Qubesi as a 12-page daily, and the first issue appeared on 5 August 1973. As of 2013 Al Qubesi was also owner and editor of the newspaper. The publisher of the daily is Al Wahda Press House. The paper has its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. ''Al Wahda'' has a pro-government stance and in fact, is sponsored by the Emirati government. The paper has now 20 pages and offers political news, local news and news on economy, sports, religion and culture. Its estimated circulation in 2003 was 20,000 copies. Al Wahda Football Club ( ar, نادي الوحدة لكرة القدم) is an Emirati professional football club based in Abu Dhabi, that competes in the UAE Pro League. The club was founded in 1974 and plays its home games at the Al Nahyan Stadium. The club's colours are maroon, grey and white. History Foundation The first team created in Abu Dhabi was Al-Ahli in 1966, followed respectively by Al-Ittihad in 1968, Al-Falah and Al-Wahda in 1969. In 1974, a decision was made by the Minister of youth and sport to create Abu Dhabi SC by merging Al-Ittihad and Al-Wahda on 13 March 1974, and to create Al-Emirates SC by merging Al-Ahli and Al-Falah on 3 June 1974.
