Al-Shifa Hospital Siege
Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical complex in Gaza Strip, Gaza, was sieged in mid-November 2023 during the 2023 Israel–Hamas war. On November 11, the hospital was completely encircled, cutting it off from the rest of Gaza City. On that date, Gaza Health Ministry, Gazan health officials stated that 1,500 patients, along with 1,500 medical workers and some 15,000 displaced people were stranded in the hospital. Israel and the United States claimed their intelligence indicated the hospital was being used for military purposes by Hamas, a claim that both the hospital's administration and Hamas denied. The siege of Gaza City began on 2 November 2023, when Israel Defense Forces (IDF) surrounded Gaza City. The siege is part of the ongoing Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, which was a counterattack to the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Kibbutzim
A kibbutz ( he, קִבּוּץ / , lit. "gathering, clustering"; plural: kibbutzim / ) is an intentional community in Israel that was traditionally based on agriculture. The first kibbutz, established in 1909, was Degania. Today, farming has been partly supplanted by other economic branches, including industrial plants and high-tech enterprises. Kibbutzim began as utopian communities, a combination of socialism and Zionism. In recent decades, some kibbutzim have been privatized and changes have been made in the communal lifestyle. Sara M. Roy is an American political economist and scholar. She is a Senior Research Scholar at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University. Norman Gary Finkelstein (; born December 8, 1953) is an American political scientist, activist, former professor, and author. His primary fields of research are the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and the politics of the Holocaust. He is a graduate of Binghamton University and received his Ph.D. in political science at Princeton University. He has held faculty positions at Brooklyn College, Rutgers University, Hunter College, New York University, and DePaul University, where he was an assistant professor from 2001 to 2007. Mads Fredrik Gilbert (born 2 June 1947) is a Norwegian physician, humanitarian, activist, and politician for the Red Party.
