Akwaaba Music is a label and agency based in Accra, Ghana. The label distributes some of Ghana's biggest artists, including Joey B, EL, D-Black, Ruff N Smooth, Edem, DJ Breezy, as well as successful independent artists such as the FOKN Bois, Art Melody, Aero Manyelo, Rocky Marsiano and other artists from 19 African countries. Akwaaba Music has established a global reputation as a quality source for music from Africa. Akwaaba Music was founded in California in 2008 by Benjamin Lebrave. Hiplife
Hiplife is a Ghanaian musical style that fuses Ghanaian culture and hip hop. Recorded predominantly in the Ghanaian Akan language, hiplife is rapidly gaining popularity in the 2010s throughout West Africa and abroad, especially in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Germany. History Reginald Osei, known in music circles as Reggie Rockstone, is touted by some as the originator of hiplife; others disagree. Nonetheless, the origins of Ghanaian hip hop go back to the 1980s, with performers such as K.K. Kabobo and Gyedu Blay Ambolley. Joey B
Darryl Paa Kwesi Bannerman-Martin (born 20 August 1989), known under the stage name Joey B, is a Ghanaian hip hop recording artist. He is well known for his single "Tonga". Early life and career Joey B was born in Cape Coast, Ghana. He realized his talent for music at age six (6) when he formed a group and aided in ghost writing most of the songs they made together. This bolstered his unrelenting strong desire for music and pursued it. He had his primary education from St. Theresa's school and later went to Accra High School. He graduated at Zenith University College in 2016. Later on, he collaborated with producer Lil Shaker till they met Jayso, the founder of Skillions. Elom Adablah (born 28 June 1989), better known by his stage name E.L, is a Ghanaian Afrobeats musician, rapper, singer and producer. E.L's singles include "Obuu Mo", "Kaalu", "One Ghana", "Auntie Martha", "Shelele", "Mi Naa Bo Po", "Koko" and "KaaBuAme", "See me Sometime", "Abaa" and "Pay Like a Boss". Ruff n Smooth is a Ghanaian-based music group made up of Ruff/Bullet (Ricky Nana Agyemang) & Smooth/ Ahkan (Clement Baah Foh). Although both have been on the music scene for a while, it was not till they formed an alliance that they both gained prominence. Denning Edem Hotor is a Ghanaian recording artist and entertainer who performs under the name Edem. In 2015, he was awarded Best International Act-Africa at the Black Canadian Awards in Canada.
