Akif Jafar Hajiyev
Akif Jafar Hajiyev ( az, Akif Cəfər oğlu Hacıyev, 8 December 1937 – 3 February 2015) was an Azerbaijani mathematician. He served as the vice-president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences from 2013 until his death. From 2004 to 2013, he was the director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of National Academy of Sciences. He authored four books, in addition to numerous papers. Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) ( az, Azərbaycan Milli Elmlər Akademiyası (AMEA)), located in Baku, is the main state research organization and the primary body that conducts research and coordinates activities in the fields of science and social sciences in Azerbaijan. Shohrat Order ( az, Şöhrət ordeni), translated as ''Order of Glory'', is an award presented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
