Air Kokshetau, also legally known as JSC Aircompany Kokshetau ( kk, АҚ «Көкшетау Әуекомпаниясы» / ; russian: АО «Авиакомпания Кокшетау"»), was an airline based in Kokshetau, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan, based at Kokshetau International Airport. It operated a fleet of eight aircraft. It started operations in 2002, it offered flights to both domestic and international destinations and had 238 employees (at March 2007). In 2010, the airline was shut down. History Founded in 1968 as ''Kokchetavsky Squadron''. Destinations Air Kokshetau operated scheduled flights from Kokshetau to Almaty, Astana, Petropavl and from Astana to Oral using Yakovlev Yak-40 aircraft. Kokshetau Airport, Akmola Region
Kokshetau (meaning ''Blueish Mountain'' in Kazakh, kz, Көкшетау, Kökşetau; ; rus, Кокшета́у, p=kokʂɛtaʊ) is a city in northern Kazakhstan and the capital of Akmola Region, which stretches along the southern shore of Lake Kopa, lying in the north of Kokshetau Hills, a northern subsystem of the Kokshetau Uplands ( Saryarka) and the southern edge of the Ishim Plain. It is named after the Mount Kokshe. Earlier, it was the administrative center of Kokshetau Region, which was abolished in 1997. It is also situated at the junction of the Trans-Kazakhstan and South Siberian railways. Kokshetau lies at an elevation of approximately above sea level. It has 150,649 inhabitants (2022 est.), up from 123,389 (1999 census), while Akmola Region had a total population of 738,587 (2019 est.), down from 1,061,820 ( 1989 census), making it the tenth most populous region in Kazakhstan.
