Ain Terma
Ein Tarma ( ar, عيـن تـرمـا), also spelled Ayn Tarma or Ain Terma, is a suburb of Damascus in Syria, located east of Old Damascus, just north of the Barada River, within an area called the Eastern Ghouta. It is administratively a part of the Arbin subdistrict, in the Markaz district of the Rif Dimashq Governorate. Nearby localities include Jobar and Zamalka to the north, Hazeh to east, Kafr Batna to southeast, the Ein Tarma Valley to south and Zablatani, Souq al-Hal and Al-Maamouniye to the west. Jobar
Jobar ( ar, جَوْبَر, Jawbar) also spelled Jawbar, Jober or Joubar, is a municipality of the Syrian capital Damascus. A once historical village on the outskirts of Damascus, it is now a suburb of the capital city. It lies 2 km northeast of the old city walls. It contains the most venerated site for Syrian Jews, an ancient 2,000-year-old synagogue and shrine in commemoration of the biblical prophet Elijah, which has been a place of Jewish pilgrimage for many centuries. Today 93% of Jobar lies in ruins due to a prolonged battle fought between the Syrian Army and various rebel groups from February 2013 to 23 March 2018. The Rif Dimashq offensive (February–April 2018), code-named Operation Damascus Steel, was a military offensive launched by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in February 2018 in a bid to capture the rebel-held eastern Ghouta suburb during the Syrian Civil War. East Ghouta, a pocket of towns and farms, had been under government siege since 2013 and had been a major rebel stronghold in the vicinity of the capital of Damascus. The Rif Dimashq offensive (March–August 2013) was a Syrian government forces and allies offensive in the Rif Dimashq Governorate that was launched in late March 2013, as part of the Syrian Civil War.
