Agustín Parra Echauri
Agustín Parra Echauri (born April 8, 1960) is a Mexican artist and artisan mostly noted for his work in creating religious images and other works in Mexican colonial style, credited to reviving interest in that era's styles and techniques. He has exhibited his work in Mexico, the United States and Spain and has been commissioned to make furniture and other items for three popes. He works in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco where he owns two shops. Life Parra Echauri was born in Tepic, Nayarit, the eighth of ten children born to José Parra Villalpando, a sculptor trained at the Academy of San Carlos, and María del Refugio Partida Echauri. When he was a child, he frequently visited the Tepic Cathedral, located near his school and admired the artwork. When he was ten, people began to pay him to draw Christmas cards. John Paul II
Pope John Paul II ( la, Ioannes Paulus II; it, Giovanni Paolo II; pl, Jan Paweł II; born Karol Józef Wojtyła ; 18 May 19202 April 2005) was the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State from 1978 until his death in April 2005, and was later canonised as Pope Saint John Paul II. ''Pinus ayacahuite'', also called ayacahuite pine and Mexican white pine, (family Pinaceae) is a species of pine native to the mountains of southern Mexico and western Central America, in the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains and the eastern end of the Eje Volcánico Transversal, between 14° and 21°N latitude in the Mexican states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla, Veracruz and Chiapas, and in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. Mission San José (Texas)
Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo is an historic Catholic mission in San Antonio, Texas, United States. The mission was named in part for the Marquis de San Miguel de Aguayo, José de Azlor y Virto de Vera. Many buildings on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, borrow architectural elements from those found at Mission San José. The mission was founded on February 23, 1720, because Mission San Antonio de Valero had become overcrowded shortly after its founding with refugees from the closed East Texas missions. Father Antonio Margil received permission from the governor of Coahuila and Texas, the Marquis de San Miguel de Aguayo, to build a new mission south of San Antonio de Valero.
