Agryzsky District
Agryzsky District (russian: Агрызский райо́н; tt-Cyrl, Әгерҗе районы, ''Ägerce rayonı'') is a territorial administrative unit and municipality of the Republic of Tatarstan within the Russian Federation. The district is located in the northeast of the republic on the bank of the Izh River and occupies an area of 1796.6 square kilometers (about 693.6 sq mi). According to the 2010 census, the municipality had a population of 36,848. The main city of Agryz accounts for 52.7% of the district's total population and is located 304 km east of Kazan and 36 km from Izhevsk. The settlement of Agryz first appeared in historical records in 1646. After the suppression of Pugachev's uprising in 1775, Agryz became part of the Sarapulsky county (uyezd) within the Vyatka province. Yemelyan Pugachev
Yemelyan Ivanovich Pugachev (russian: Емельян Иванович Пугачёв; c. 1742) was an ataman of the Yaik Cossacks who led a great popular insurrection during the reign of Catherine the Great. Pugachev claimed to be Catherine's late husband, Emperor Peter III. Alexander Pushkin wrote a notable history of the rebellion, ''The History of Pugachev'', and recounted the events of the uprising in his novel ''The Captain's Daughter'' (1836). Mendeleyevsky District (russian: link=no, Менделе́евский райо́н; tt-Cyrl, Менделеев районы, ''Mendeleyev rayonı'') is a territorial administrative unit and municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan within the Russian Federation. The district is located on the right bank of the Kama and on the Toyma River (a tributary of the Kama), 238 kilometers from Kazan. The administrative center of the district is Mendeleyevsk. At the beginning of 2020, the population of the district was 30,064. The first settlements on the territory of the modern Mendeleevsky region appeared in the 17th century. The main impetus for the development of the region was the creation by Kapiton Ushkov in 1868 of a chemical plant, which for 2020 is a city-forming enterprise.
