Agreement For The New Greece
Agreement for the New Greece ( gr, Συμφωνία για τη Νέα Ελλάδα) is a social-democratic political party in Greece, established on 15 April 2013. It was formed by former Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) health minister Andreas Loverdos and former members of Radical Movement of Social Democratic Alliance (RIKSSY). It was also supported by Christos Aidonis, an independent MP (former member of PASOK) and Dimitris Tsironis (ex-MP for Arta). The party supports the idea of the Fourth Hellenic Republic. Andreas Loverdos
Andreas Loverdos ( el, Ανδρέας Λοβέρδος ; born 15 May 1956) is a Greek politician who was Minister for Education and Religious Affairs from 2014 to 2015. Early life Loverdos was born in Patras. He graduated from the law school of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1978. From 1978 until 1980, he fulfilled his obligatory military service in the Hellenic Air Force. In 1982, he completed postgraduate studies in European law at the Université libre de Bruxelles. During his studies, he served as vice-president of the Thessaloniki law students' union as well as president of the Greek students' association of Belgium. In 1986, Andreas Loverdos completed his PhD at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the thesis ''Terrorism and Political Crime: Study from the Perspective of Law''. European Parliament elections were held in Greece on 25 May 2014 to elect the 21 Greek members of the European Parliament. Prior to the 2012 elections the characteristic Greek political system was a two-party system. The historically dominant parties have been New Democracy and the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). European Parliament
The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission. The Olive Tree ( el, Ελιά, ''Elia''), full name Olive Tree – Democratic Alignment (Ελιά – Δημοκρατική Παράταξη) was a centre-left electoral alliance. The Panhellenic Socialist Movement ( el, Πανελλήνιο Σοσιαλιστικό Κίνημα, Panellínio Sosialistikó Kínima, ), known mostly by its acronym PASOK, (; , ) is a social-democratic political party in Greece. Until 2012, it was one of the two major parties in the country, along with New Democracy, its main political rival.
