Agnes Von Konow
Agnes von Konow (5 March 1868 - 15 May 1944), was a Finnish activist for the protection of animals. She was the founder of the Finnish society for the protection of animals, SEY Suomen Eläinsuojeluyhdistysten liitto, and a pioneer within the animal protection movement in Finland.Suomen kansallisbiografia (National Biography of Finland) Life Agnes von Konow was born to the official noble Oskar Wilhelm von Konow and Amalia Sofia Malmström. Svenska fruntimmersskolan i Helsingfors ('Swedish Women's School of Helsinki') or only Svenska fruntimmersskolan ('Swedish Women's School') was a Girls' School in Helsinki in Finland, active from 1844 to 1974. Alongside its equivalent in Åbo ( fi, Turku), '' Svenska fruntimmersskolan i Åbo'' (1844–1955), it was the first state school for females in Finland. It allowed pupils of both genders in 1929, and was dissolved in 1974. History The sister schools of Åbo and Helsinki were founded as a result of a debate about women's education in Finland.
