Agnes Zawadzki
Agnes Elizabeth Zawadzki (born July 31, 1994) is an American former competitive figure skater. She is the 2012 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist and a two-time U.S. national bronze medalist (2012, 2013). As a junior, she was a two-time World Junior medalist ( 2010 silver, 2011 bronze) and the 2010 U.S. national junior champion. Personal life Zawadzki's parents, originally from Gdańsk and southern Poland, moved to the United States in the early 1990s and divorced when she was three. After her father died when she was 10, her mother worked double shifts as a nanny and housekeeper to support her skating. She has an older brother, Bart. Zawadzki attended Cheyenne Mountain High School, graduating in May 2012. She was the recipient of an outstanding academic achievement award signed by President George W. Bush. Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Figure skating is the oldest winter sport contested at the Olympics, with men's and women's single skating appearing as two of the four figure skating events at the London Games in 1908. Single skaters are required to perform two segments in all international competitions, the short program and the free skating program. Loop Jump
The loop jump is an edge jump in the sport of figure skating. The skater executes it by taking off from the back outside edge of the skating foot, turning one rotation in the air, and landing on the back outside edge of the same foot. It is often performed as the second jump in a combination. History The loop jump was created by German figure skater Werner Rittberger, and is often called the Rittberger in Europe. According to U.S. Figure Skating, the loop jump is "the most fundamental of all the jumps". According to writer Ellyn Kestnbaum, the jump also gets its name from the shape the blade would leave on the ice if the skater performed the rotation without leaving the ice. The Rostelecom Cup (russian: Кубок Ростелекома), formerly the Cup of Russia (russian: Кубок России), is an international, senior-level figure skating competition held as part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series since 1996.
