Agnes Alpers
Agnes Alpers (born 29 June 1961) is a Diplom-qualified educator, politician with the Left, and former member of the Bundestag. Biography Education and career Starting in 1980, Alpers studied pedagogy at the Free University of Berlin, finishing her Diplom degree in 1986. Subsequently, she was active in child welfare. She is a founder of school groups and was the leader of the first Kids Samba Group in Bremen during Carnival. She is married with two children. After a speech in the Bundestag on 28 June 2013, Alpers collapsed and had to be resuscitated on site. A stroke as a result of an aneurysm was diagnosed, and Alpers was placed into an artificial coma. By the end of July, she was taken out of her coma. In September, she was moved to a hospital in Bremen and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. Socialist Unity Party Of West Berlin
The Socialist Unity Party of West Berlin (german: Sozialistische Einheitspartei Westberlins, SEW) was a communist party in West Berlin. The party was founded on 24 November 1962, when the West Berlin local organization of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) was separated from the main party. Until 1969, the party was known as the Socialist Unity Party of Germany – West Berlin (). Gerhard Danelius was the chairman of the party until 1978. In many respects, the party continued to operate as a branch of the SED even after it had formally been converted into a separate political party. 2013 German Federal Election
Federal elections were held on 22 September to elect the members of the 18th Bundestag of Germany. At stake were all 598 seats to the Bundestag, plus 33 overhang seats determined thereafter. The Christian Democratic Union of Germany/ Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CDU/CSU) of incumbent chancellor Angela Merkel won their best result since 1990 with nearly 42% of the vote and nearly 50% of the seats, just five short for an overall majority. The Bremische Bürgerschaft (State Parliament of Bremen, literally “Bremish Citizenry” or “Citizenry of Bremen”) is the legislative branch of the Bremen (state), Free Hanseatic City of Bremen in Germany.
