Ageze Guadie
Ageze Guadie ( he, גואדה אגזה; born September 11, 1989) is an Ethiopian-born Israeli Olympic marathon runner. Early and personal life Born in Ethiopia, he is an Ethiopian Jew (Beta Israel) and is the seventh of nine children in his family. He made ''aliya'' and moved to Israel with his family at age 13, in 2002. His family lived in an immigrant absorption center in Beersheba, while he went to a boarding school near Hadera. He served as a technical quartermaster in the Israel Defense Forces. After the army, he worked as a waiter in a cafe, and as a mover. He then became a sports teacher at a school in Netanya, Israel, where he now lives. Running career He ran for the club Hapoel Emek Hefer, won Under-16 regional and national competitions at middle distances, and at the age of 16 won the Israeli cross country youth championship. The People's Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (PDRE) () was a socialist state that existed in Ethiopia and present day Eritrea from 1987 to 1991. The PDRE was established in February 1987 as a Marxist-Leninist one-party state upon the adoption of the 1987 Constitution, three weeks after approval in the national referendum. The Derg, the military junta that had ruled Ethiopia as a provisional government since 1974, planned for transition to civilian rule and proclaimed a socialist republic in 1984 after five years of preparation. The Workers' Party of Ethiopia (WPE) was founded that same year as a vanguard party led by Derg chairman Mengistu Haile Mariam. Athletics At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Qualification
For the athletics competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the following qualification systems were in place. Qualification ended on 11 July 2016. Russian disqualification Because of the suspension of the Russian Athletics Federation by the IAAF, due to widespread doping violations, Russia currently will not qualify as a team for these Olympics or other international competitions, and unless this suspension is lifted in time, Russia will be unable to send an athletics delegation to these Games. While Russia will continue to seek further appeals, the IAAF confirmed its decision on 18 June 2016 after a report by a five-member task force which reported that Russia had failed to fully address its "deep- culture" of doping. The IAAF did provide for the possibility of accepting individual Russian athletes who have been sufficiently tested outside of the Russian system. Tesama Moogas (Hebrew: טסמה מוגס, born 2 February 1988) is an Ethiopian-born Israeli long-distance runner. Early life Moogas was born in Ethiopia, and grew up in the village of Jojam. He immigrated to Israel when he was 20 years old, in 2008. He lives at the Wingate Institute, in Netanya, Israel. Running career Early career Early in his career Moogas focused on running in 5,000 m and 10,000 m events.
