Afro King
"Afro King" is the last single by British band EMF (band), EMF, released in late 1995. It was not a commercial success, peaking at number 51 on the UK Singles Chart. Track listings The title track and tracks two and three ("Too Much" and ''Easy'') on the first CD single were new songs, having not been included on any of the band's albums, including the compilation ''Epsom Mad Funkers: The Best of EMF''. Track four, "Bring Me Down" was taken from the band's final studio album, ''Cha Cha Cha (album), Cha Cha Cha''. Included on the second CD single are several previous EMF singles. EMF (band)
EMF are an English alternative rock band from Cinderford, Gloucestershire, who came to prominence at the beginning of the 1990s. During their initial eight-year run, from 1989 to 1997, the band released three studio albums before a hiatus. Their first single, " Unbelievable", reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart, and was a number 1 hit on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. Their debut album, ''Schubert Dip'', went to number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. In April 2022, EMF released their first album of new material in 27 years, ''Go Go Sapiens''. Band name The name EMF is an initialism of Epsom Mad Funkers, a name taken from a fan club of the band New Order in 1989. The song "Head the Ball", which featured on the remix single release of "Lies", featured the repeating lines "electromotive force" and "ecstasy mother fucker". Parlophone Records Limited (also known as Parlophone Records and Parlophone) is a German–British record label founded in Germany in 1896 by the Carl Lindström Company as Parlophon. Ian Alec Harvey Dench (born 7 August 1964) is an English songwriter and musician. He was the guitarist and principal songwriter for EMF, who scored a major international hit reaching number 1 in the United States with " Unbelievable" in 1991. It was voted one of BBC Radio 2's 'Greatest Guitar Riffs'. Early life Ian Alec Harvey Dench was born in Cheltenham, on 7 August 1964, to Harold and Jackie Dench. He has two siblings, Alan and Paul. Dench’s father, Harold Dench, taught Ian classical guitar. Ian attended The Crypt School in Gloucester from 1975, where one year at Prizegiving, his chosen prize of "100 Greatest Rock Licks" was somewhat frowned upon, compared to the preferred academic tomes of others. "I Believe" is a song by British band EMF, released as the second single from their first album, '' Schubert Dip'' (1991). The song was released as a single in January 1991 in the UK following their big hit " Unbelievable". The song reached number six on the UK Singles Chart.
