African Hockey Federation
African Hockey Federation (AfHF) is the continental governing body of field hockey in Africa. It is affiliated by International Hockey Federation and has 25 member nations. It bi-annually organizes Hockey African Cup for Nations, a men's and women's hockey tournament for African nations. The main objective of the organization is to make the game of hockey popular in Africa and to increase number of participants. European Hockey Federation
The European Hockey Federation is a European sports federation for field hockey, based in Brussels. It is the umbrella organisation for all European national federations, and organises the Euro Hockey League. Marijke Fleuren was elected president on 22 August 2011. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the European Hockey Federation banned the participation of all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from all events sanctioned by the Federation. The headquarters of the Association are in Kampala, Uganda. Philip Wafula Mulindo is the President of Uganda Hockey Association and Stanley Tamale is the General Secretary. History 6th Men Field Hockey Africa Nations Cup In 13 to 20 May 2000, the Uganda national team played the 6th Men's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, which classified the winner for the World Cup. Participating countries were South Africa, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia, and Uganda. 16 Ugandan players took part in the competition; the trainer was the Italian international goalkeeper Damian Angió. Nigeria Hockey Federation
The Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) is the governing body of field hockey in Nigeria. It is affiliated to IHF International Hockey Federation and AHF African Hockey Federation. The headquarter of NHF is in Abuja, Nigeria. Engineer Obadiah Simon Nkom is the President of NHF and Chimezie Asiegbu is the Secretary General. FIH is a governing body, which is responsible for certifying a Hockey Field/Ground. Currently there are no FIH Certified Fields in Nigeria. The Nigeria Hockey men's national team made history in January at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana finishing third at the tournament after a 4-2 win against Kenya. The Royal Moroccan Hockey Federation or Fédération Royale Marocaine de Hockey is the governing body of field hockey in Morocco.
