''Africa Business Report'' is a business news programme produced by BBC News and is shown on BBC World News. This programme was launched on 2 February 2009 as a monthly half-hour programme presented by Komla Dumor. Following a hiatus on 1 August 2011, the programme was relaunched on 6 October 2013 and is now aired worldwide as a weekly 20-minute programme. The program aired its final episode on 25 May 2018. The programme, which uses correspondents located throughout the continent, is described by BBC World News as: :"A look at business across the continent. We talk to the people and businesses who are changing the economic face of Africa. BBC correspondents within each country will report on the growing trends and latest business developments and give an insight into this diverse continent." 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. Komla Dumor
Komla Afeke Dumor (3 October 1972 – 18 January 2014) was a Ghanaian journalist who worked for BBC World News and was the main presenter of its programme ''Focus on Africa''. Early life and education Dumor was born in Accra, Ghana. His father, Ernest Dumor, was a professor of sociology and his mother, Cecelia Dumor, had a master's degree in Mass Communication. His grandfather was Philip Gbeho, composer of the music of Ghanaian national anthem, and his uncle, James Victor Gbeho, is a leading Ghanaian diplomat. Dumor initially studied pre-clinical medicine at the University of Jos, Nigeria, but left for his home country where he started as a medical student at the University of Ghana but later graduated with a BSc. in Sociology and Psychology, and from Harvard University's John F. The programme is presented by Tanya Beckett (Monday–Thursday) and Jamie Robertson (Friday). Standard-definition Television
Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. The two common SDTV signal types are 576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution, derived from the European-developed PAL and SECAM systems, and 480i based on the American NTSC system. Common SDTV refresh rates are 25, 29.97 and 30 frames per second. Both systems use a 4:3 aspect ratio. Standards that support digital SDTV broadcast include DVB, ATSC, and ISDB.
