Afogados da Ingazeira Futebol Clube, known as Afogados da Ingazeira or simply Afogados, is a List of football clubs in Brazil, Brazilian football club from Afogados da Ingazeira, Pernambuco. History Founded in 2013, Afogados' first professional competition occurred in the following year, as the club played in the Campeonato Pernambucano (lower levels), Campeonato Pernambucano Série A2. In 2016 the club achieved promotion to Campeonato Pernambucano, the first division, after finishing second. After three years in the first division, Afogados finished third in the 2019 season, thus qualifying for the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D. In February 2020, the club achieved its biggest feat after knocking out Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side Clube Atlético Mineiro, Atlético Mineiro of the year's Copa do Brasil. Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D (English: Brazilian Championship Serie D) is the fourth division of the Brazilian football league system, and was announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on April 9, 2008. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was formed from the split of the Série C, keeping its best 20 clubs and playing double round robin as does the top three divisions. The Série D keeps the same format of the older Série C, but with participation limited to 40 clubs recognized by the state federation. In 2016 the Série D was expanded to 68 clubs, but in 2022 it will be reduced to 64 clubs. 2019 Campeonato Pernambucano
The 2019 Campeonato Pernambucano (officially the Pernambucano da Série A1 de 2019) was the 105th edition of the state championship of Pernambuco organized by FPF. The championship began on 19 January and ended on 21 April. In the Finals, Sport and the defending champions Náutico tied 2–2 on aggregate. Sport won on penalties to win their 42nd Campeonato Pernambucano title. As champions, Sport qualified for the 2020 Copa do Brasil and 2020 Copa do Nordeste. Náutico and Afogados qualified for 2020 Copa do Brasil as runners-up and third placed team, respectively. Santa Cruz (best second-team in the 2019 RNC) qualified for the 2020 Copa do Nordeste. 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the fourth division. The competition was originally scheduled to begin on 3 May and end on 22 November, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled for 6 September 2020 – 6 February 2021. Sixty-eight teams competed in the tournament. Sixty-four teams qualified from their state leagues and cups, and four relegated from the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C ( ABC, Atlético Acreano, Globo and Luverdense). Luverdense declined to participate being replaced by Sinop. The match Guarany de Sobral v Salgueiro, scheduled for 20 September 2020 (Group A3 1st round), was postponed after 12 Guarany de Sobral players tested positive for COVID-19.
