Miss Universe Albania is a national beauty pageant in Albania. The pageant was founded as Miss Albania in 2002, until rebranding as Miss Universe Albania in 2006. Since 2021, winners of the competition have competed internationally in Miss Universe, Miss Earth and Miss World. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. Miss Universe 2008 was the 57th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam on July 14, 2008. This was the first time that the Miss Universe pageant was broadcast in 1080i High-definition. At the end of the event, Riyo Mori of Japan crowned Dayana Mendoza as Miss Universe 2008. Zhaneta Byberi is an Albanian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Albania 2014 and represented Albania at the Miss Universe 2014. Early life Political family oppression history Zhaneta Byberi, daughter of Petrit Byberi and Aishe Kurmekaj, was born in Bajram Curri, Tropoja, Albania. Zhaneta was forced to leave Albania at the age of 4, due to numerous conflicts and random family labelings as 'dangerous' and ' anti-nationalistic', thus her family members being politically pursued and repressed would lead to the result of being sent to camps risking the life of her parents and her very self with the continuation of living in Albania at that period.
