Adrian Remodo
Adrian Remodo (born 19 July 1981) is a Bikol essayist and writer, from the Bicol Region of the Philippines, who has been instrumental in the post–World War II literary resurgence of Bikol literature. He was the 2006 winner of the regional Tomás Arejola Prize for Bikol literature in the ''Saysay'' (history) category. Remodo also won a 2008 ''Salita ng Taon'' (“Word of the Yearâ€) award from the Filipinas Institute of Translation. Bicolano People
The Bicolano people or the Bikolanos ( Bikol: ''Mga Bikolnon'') are the fourth-largest Filipino ethnolinguistic group. Males are usually referred to as ''Bicolano'', and ''Bicolana'' is used for females. Their native region is commonly referred to as Bicolandia, which comprises the entirety of the Bicol Peninsula and neighboring minor islands, all in the southeast portion of Luzon. They are largely an agricultural and rural people, producing rice, coconuts, hemp and spices. The great majority of them are Christians, with small but significant Protestant and Muslim minorities. The majority of the Bicolano people are Roman Catholics, as evidenced by cities and towns celebrating festivals in honor of patron saints, and Catholic Mass is celebrated daily in many of the Bicol Region's churches. Bicol, known formally as the Bicol Region or colloquially as Bicolandia ( bcl, Rehiyon kan Bikol; Rinconada Bikol: ''Rehiyon ka Bikol''; Waray Sorsogon, Masbateño: ''Rehiyon san Bikol''; tl, Rehiyon ng Bikol), is an administrative region of the Philippines, designated as Region V. Tomás Arejola
Tomás Arejola y Padilla (September 18, 1865 - May 22, 1926) was a Filipino lawyer, legislator, diplomat, political writer and a propagandist during the Spanish colonial period. A mason and a liberal, he openly campaigned for political reforms in the Philippines. But this was to pass and the Americans took over. During the Commonwealth period, Arejola joined the Nacionalista Party becoming its first vice-president and twice in the elections of 1907 and 1911 was elected the Representative of Ambos Camarines. Early life and education Arejola was born in Nueva Caceres (now Naga City) in Ambos Camarines, Philippines (now Camarines Sur).
