Adonis García
Adonis García Arrieta (born April 12, 1985) is a Cuban former professional baseball third baseman. He played in the Cuban National Series from 2004 through 2011, and then defected from Cuba to play for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). He also played for the LG Twins of the KBO League. Career Cuban baseball García debuted in the Cuban National Series in 2004 with Ciego de Ávila. In the Cuban National Series, García began as a shortstop, and then shifted to play other infield and outfield positions. During the 2008–09 season, he had a .355 batting average, .426 on-base percentage (OBP), and .613 slugging percentage (SLG) in 282 at-bats. That season, he recorded 21 home runs and 67 runs batted in. García played for the Cuba national baseball team in the 2009 World Port Tournament, leading all players in batting average at .500. 2009 World Port Tournament
The 2009 World Port Tournament is an international baseball competition held at the DOOR Neptunus Familiestadion in Rotterdam, The Netherlands from July 2–12, 2009. It was the 12th edition of the tournament and featured teams from Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Japan and the Netherlands. Originally, USA Baseball would send an All-Star team from the Great South League, but due to missing papers, the team had to withdrew from the tournament, one day before starting. The organization of the tournament decided that the four teams would meet each other a third time in the tournament. A run batted in (RBI; plural RBIs ) is a statistic in baseball and softball that credits a batter for making a play that allows a run to be scored (except in certain situations such as when an error is made on the play). In baseball, a home run (abbreviated HR) is scored when the ball is hit in such a way that the batter is able to circle the bases and reach home plate safely in one play without any errors being committed by the defensive team. A home run is usually achieved by hitting the ball over the outfield fence between the foul poles (or hitting either foul pole) without the ball touching the field. In baseball, an at bat (AB) or time at bat is a batter's turn batting against a pitcher. An at bat is different from a plate appearance. A batter is credited with a plate appearance regardless of what happens during their turn at bat, but a batter is credited with an at bat only if that plate appearance does not have one of the results enumerated below. In baseball statistics, slugging percentage (SLG) is a measure of the batting productivity of a hitter.
