Adolf W. Edelsvärd
Adolf Wilhelm Edelsvärd (28 June 1824 – 15 October 1919) was a Swedish architect, engineer and military officer. Biography Edelsvärd was born at Östersund in Jämtland, Sweden. His father, Fredrik Wilhelm Edelsvärd, was a military officer and engineer. He studied civil architecture, both in Sweden and in England. He was promoted to lieutenant in the Dalarna Regiment in 1844. He served as head architect for the Swedish National Railways (''Statens Järnvägar'') from 1855 to 1895. His designs included the Gothenburg Central Station (1856), Norrköping Central station (1865), Uppsala Central station (1865), Stockholm Central Station (1869) and Malmö Central station (1890). He also designed the exhibition hall in KungsträdgÃ¥rden for the General Industrial Exposition of Stockholm (1866). Östersund
Östersund (; sma, Staare) is an urban area (city) in Jämtland in the middle of Sweden. It is the seat of Östersund Municipality and the capital of Jämtland County. Östersund is located at the shores of Sweden's fifth-largest lake, Storsjön, opposite the island Frösön. It is the only city in Jämtland. The northern part of the urban area is located inside of the municipality of Krokom. Östersund is the region's cultural and economical centre and by tradition a city of trade and commerce. The city had one of the most extensive garrisons in Sweden prior to its closure in the early-21st century. Östersund has the Mid Sweden University's largest campus site with approximately 7,000 students. With a total population of 50,960 (2017) Östersund is the 22nd most populous city in Sweden, the 46th most populous city in Scandinavia, and by far the largest inland city in Northern Sweden. Malmö Central Station ( sv, Malmö centralstation) is a railway station on the Southern Main Line in Malmö, Sweden, opened in 1856. It serves approximately 17 million passengers per year. With the opening of the City Tunnel in 2010, the station began through services connecting south to Copenhagen via the Öresund Line, to stations north on the Southern Main Line, saving at least 15 minutes for through passengers. Description The central station has ten tracks. Four tracks are underground at the northernmost point of the City Tunnel, and 6 tracks are above ground in the old terminus station.
