Adelina (opera)
''Adelina'' is an opera farsa (described as a ‘melodramma sentimentale’) in one act, by the Italian composer Pietro Generali with words by Gaetano Rossi. It was first performed at the Teatro San Moisè in Venice on either 15 or 16 September 1810. It premiered just before the first of Rossini's farse at the same theatre.Lanza A. Pietro Generali. Farsa
Farsa (Italian, literally: ''farce'', plural: ''farse'') is a genre of opera, associated with Venice in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It is also sometimes called ''farsetta''. Farse were normally one-act operas, sometimes performed together with short ballets. Many of the recorded productions were at the Teatro San Moisè in Venice, often during Carnival. Musically they may have derived from the two-act dramma giocoso, although there were other influences, including the French '' comédie mêlée d'ariettes''. Few of the original 18th-century farse are now performed. The German composer Johann Simon Mayr, who lived in Northern Italy, wrote about 30 farse. One-act Operas
A one-act play is a play that has only one act, as distinct from plays that occur over several acts. One-act plays may consist of one or more scenes. The 20-40 minute play has emerged as a popular subgenre of the one-act play, especially in writing competitions. One act plays make up the overwhelming majority of Fringe Festival shows including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The origin of the one-act play may be traced to the very beginning of recorded Western drama: in ancient Greece, ''Cyclops'', a satyr play by Euripides, is an early example. Rosa Morandi
Rosa Morandi (born in Senigallia, 15 July 1782; died in Milan 4 May 1824), was an Italian operatic mezzo-soprano. She is especially notable for having created leading roles in operas by Meyerbeer and Rossini. Training and career Morandi studied with Giovanni Morandi, whom she married in 1804. Pietro Generali
Pietro Generali (born Mercandetti Generali; 23 October 1773 – 3 November 1832) was an Italian composer primarily of operas and vocal music. Generali was born in Masserano. He studied counterpoint with Giovanni Masi in Rome and spent a few months at the Conservatoire in Naples. After graduation in Rome Generali began composing sacred music.
