Adele McClure
Adele McClure is an American Democratic Party of Virginia, Democrat politician from Virginia. She was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in the 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election from the Virginia's 2nd House of Delegates district, 2nd district. Education and career McClure is the daughter of a Filipino immigrant. McClure graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University. She was executive director of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus. Political career She was elected to the Virginia House of Representatives in 2023 and took office in January 2024. Shortly after taking office, she proposed state legislation to implement single-stair reform as part of an effort to increase housing supply in Virginia. Current Virginia building codes require that apartment buildings have two stairwells, which raises housing costs without any clear improvements in safety. Virginia's 2nd House Of Delegates District
Virginia's 2nd House of Delegates district is one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 2 represents parts of Prince William and Stafford counties. The seat is currently held by Democrat Candi King. Elections 2017 The seat was previously held by Republican L. Mark Dudenhefer. He announced in January 2017 he would not seek reelection. Democrat Jennifer Carroll Foy won the June 2017 primary to become the Democratic candidate. She initially faced Republican Laquan Austion; however he withdrew from the race in August 2017. Republicans selected Michael Makee to run instead. Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is a public research university in Richmond, Virginia.
