Yoruba (, ; Yor. '; Ajami script, Ajami: ) is a language spoken in West Africa, primarily in South West (Nigeria), Southwestern Middle Belt, and Central Nigeria. It is spoken by the Ethnic group, ethnic Yoruba people. The number of Yoruba speakers is roughly 50 million, plus about 2 million second-language speakers. Adegoke Adelabu
Gbadamosi Adegoke Adelabu (3 September 1915 – 25 March 1958) was a prominent personality in the politics of Ibadan city and subsequently that of the Western Region of Nigeria right before the country's independence in 1960. He was Nigeria's Minister of Natural Resources and Social Services from January 1955 to January 1956 and was later the opposition leader in the Western Regional Assembly until his death in 1958. He was a self-made man born into a humble family but became an influential figure in Nigerian politics. He attended Government College, Ibadan and eventually became a businessman. His successful political career was cut short when he was killed in a car crash, not long before Nigeria gained independence from Britain. Adelabu was a self-described egotist who believed in the merits of radical nationalism, national unity and radical socialist ideology. Adegoke Olubummo
Adegoke Olubummo was a Nigerian academic and mathematician. He is known for being the first Nigerian professor in Mathematics. Early life and education Adegoke attended Ifaki Methodist school and finished in 1937. In 1938, he continued to Wesley College in Ibadan. He got his a B.A. from Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone. In 1952, he earned his M.A. in Mathematics and Ph.D. in 1955 from King's College, University of Durham. He began lecturing in the mathematics department at the University College, Ibadan in 1955 and became a full professor in 1964. He was the head of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan for many years. Enoch Obaloluwa Adegoke (born 8 March 2000) is a Nigerian sprinter. He was the 2019 African U20 champion in the 100 metres. He is also an Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games finalist in the 100 metres. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he competed in both the 100 metres and the 4x100 metres relay. In the 100 metres, Adegoke won both his heat and semi-final to progress to the final where he finished seventh in a time of 10.35s. Career 2018 Commonwealth Games and African Championships Early in 2018, Adegoke won the 100m at the Nigerian Commonwealth Games trials in a personal best time of 10.31s.
