It was established in 1954 as ''Acta Microbiologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae'', changing its name to ''Acta Microbiologica Hungarica'' in 1983, and obtaining its current title in 1994. Microbiology () is the scientific study of microorganisms, those being unicellular (single cell), multicellular (cell colony), or acellular (lacking cells). The Science Citation Index Expanded – previously entitled Science Citation Index – is a citation index originally produced by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) and created by Eugene Garfield. Scopus is Elsevier's abstract and citation database launched in 2004.
