Act As If (band)
Act As If is an American indie rock quintet from Los Angeles, United States, led by singer/songwriter Peter Verdell. History After quitting his job in A&R at Drive-Thru Records in 2008, lead singer Peter Verdell began working on his own first full length record, ''There's A Light,'' which was released on iTunes in May 2010. Mixed by Nick Baumhardt (Thousand Foot Krutch, The Class of 98), and mastered by Troy Glessner ( Death Cab for Cutie, Pedro the Lion), the record was written and produced by Verdell, who also performed all instruments on the record, including: drums, guitars, piano, synths and vocals. Shortly after the release of "There's A Light" an official full band lineup was formed and the band began playing shows around LA including venues such as: The Troubadour, West Hollywood, Spaceland, House of Blues, The Bootleg, Hotel Café, Roxy Theatre (West Hollywood), The Glasshouse, The Viper Room, and Silverlake Lounge. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. ''Dude Ranch'' is the second studio album by American rock band Blink-182, released on June 17, 1997, by Cargo Music and MCA Records, making it their major record label debut. MCA signed the band in 1996 following moderate sales of their 1995 debut ''Cheshire Cat'' and their growing popularity in Australia. ''Dude Ranch'' was the band's final recording released on Cargo and the last to feature their full original lineup as drummer Scott Raynor was dismissed from the band in 1998. Stacy Clark
Stacy Clark (born September 21, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter born in Buffalo, New York. Beginnings Clark was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. Self-taught, Clark stood out in the Buffalo music scene and was often compared to the next Ani DiFranco. In 2004, Clark packed her bags and made the long drive from NYC to California to further pursue a career in music. Clark landed a production deal off of her songwriting, and went into the studio with producer Ian Kirkpatrick to record EP ''Unusual''. In 2007, Clark went back into the studio with Kirkpatrick to create her album ''Apples & Oranges''. Without the help of a record label, she worked full-time to fund the album. Everybody Else
Everybody Else is an American rock band from Silverlake, California. History Everybody Else was formed by Carrick Moore Gerety and Mikey McCormack after both moved to the Los Angeles area. Both had relocated with bands, hoping to win fame on the West Coast; Moore Gerety had been in a group called Push Kings, a local band from Boston, and McCormack had been in Waking Hours. Everybody Elseat Allmusic Then, Moore Gerety and McCormack began working together, adding bassist Austin Williams after he moved to the area from Fresno. They began playing as Everybody Else locally in 2002; the name is taken from a song by The Kinks, "I'm Not Like Everybody Else". Emery (band)
Emery is an American post-hardcore band formed in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 2001 by Toby Morrell, Devin Shelton, Matt Carter, Josh Head, Joel Green, and Seth Studley. The band relocated to Seattle in order to reach a more music-centered scene. Before signing with Tooth & Nail Records, Emery recorded two EPs, ''The Columbus EEP Thee'' and ''The Weak's End'' demo that they used to attract attention from labels. The Daylights
The Daylights are a defunct alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California that formed in 2004. The trio was fronted by brothers Ran Jackson and Ricky Jackson, with Svend Lerche on Drums. Best known for their song, "I Hope This Gets To You" that was released in December 2010 as a virtual “love letter” on YouTube, it was based on a concept they conceived with their roommate for his long distance girlfriend. Within the first 72 hours, the video was viewed over 1.5 million times. Their self titled album "The Daylights" was released September 14, 2010 on the band's own label, 87th Floor Records. The album spent 5 weeks on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.
