Acropolis International Tournament 1986
The Acropolis International Tournament 1986 was the first edition of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament. It was held from June 18 to June 20, 1986, at the SEF arena in Piraeus, Athens, Greece. The competition is played under FIBA rules as a round-robin tournament. The participating teams were the hosts, Greece, as well as Italy, Yugoslavia, and the Netherlands. The tournament featured famous international basketball players such as Dražen Petrović, Fanis Christodoulou, Nikos Galis, Antonello Riva, Vlade Divac, Rik Smits, Walter Magnifico, Stojko Vranković, Pierluigi Marzorati, and Panagiotis Giannakis. Antonello Riva
Antonello Riva (born 28 February 1962) is an Italian former professional basketball player. At 1.96 m (6'5"), he played at the shooting guard and small forward positions. During his playing career, he was nicknamed "Nembo Kid" (Italian version of Superman). Riva was named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1991. In 2004, he was given an award to mark his being the top scorer of all-time in the top two Italian club league competitions, with a total of 14,397 points scored. Michalis Romanidis (alternate spelling: Michail) ( el, Μιχάλης Ρωμανίδης; born June 19, 1966, Thessaloniki, Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. At 1.99 m (6 ft 6 in.) tall, he played at the small forward and power forward positions. Liveris Andritsos ( el, Λιβέρης Ανδρίτσος; born December 31, 1959, in Athens, Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player and coach. At a height of 2.02 m (6'7 ") tall, he could play at both the small forward and power forward positions. Professional career Andritsos started his career with Esperos Kallitheas. In 1982, he moved to Panathinaikos, and with them he won the Greek League championship in 1984, and the Greek Cup title in 1983 and 1986. At the end of his career, Andritsos was the top scorer in Panathinaikos' history, since the A1 Division of the Greek League was formed (since the 1986–87 season), as he had scored 2,088 points. Argyris Pedoulakis (alternate spellings: Argirios, Argiris, Argyrios) ( el, Αργύρης Πεδουλάκης; born May 26, 1964) is a former Greek professional basketball player and basketball coach, who is currently acting as the general manager for Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and the EuroLeague. Panagiotis Karatzas ( el, Παναγιώτης Καρατζάς; born June 29, 1965 in Athens, Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Pierluigi "Pierlo" Marzorati (born 12 September 1952) is an Italian former professional basketball player.
