Ackley Bridge (series 5)
The fifth and final series of the British television drama series '' Ackley Bridge'' premiered on All 4 on 11 July 2022. It was later broadcast on Channel 4. The series follows the lives of the staff and pupils at the fictional multi-cultural academy school Ackley Bridge College, in the fictitious Yorkshire mill town of Ackley Bridge. The commissioning of the series was confirmed in June 2021 and filming commenced in November of that year. The series consists of ten thirty-minute episodes that were transmitted in the revised timeslot of 10pm on Channel 4. Production and casting On 17 June 2021, it was announced in a report by ''Production Weekly'' that production on the fifth series of ''Ackley Bridge'' had commenced that week. Channel 4 formally announced the renewal of ''Ackley Bridge'' in November 2021 and said that the fifth series would follow the second half of the school year that began in the previous series. All 4 is a video on demand service from the Channel Four Television Corporation, free of charge for most content and funded by advertising. The service is available in the UK and Ireland; viewers are not required to have a TV licence—required for live viewing and the BBC iPlayer on-demand service—when watching on-demand services. The service launched on 16 November 2006 as 4oD (for "4 on Demand"). The service offers a variety of programmes recently shown on Channel 4, E4, More4, Film4 and E4 Extra and shorts. Kaneez Paracha
Kaneez Paracha is a fictional character from the Channel 4 school drama ''Ackley Bridge'', portrayed by Sunetra Sarker. Kaneez first appeared in the pilot episode of the series, first broadcast on 7 June 2017. Kaneez is the mother of protagonist Nasreen (Amy-Leigh Hickman), as well as Razia (Nazmeen Kauser) and Saleem (Esa Ashraf/Yaseen Khan). Sunetra Sarker (born 25 June 1973) is an English actress and presenter, known for her roles as Nisha Batra in ''Brookside'', Anji Mittel in ''No Angels'', Zoe Hanna in ''Casualty'' and Kaneez Paracha in ''Ackley Bridge''. In 2014, she took part in the twelfth series of ''Strictly Come Dancing'', partnered with Brendan Cole. She became a panellist on the lunch time chat show Loose Women in 2021. Early life Sarker was born in Liverpool into an Indian family. Her father is a retired doctor, and her mother Bisakha taught Indian classical dance, for which she was awarded an MBE in December 2013.
