Ackerville is an unincorporated community in Wilcox County, Alabama, United States. Ackerville has one site included on the National Register of Historic Places, the Ackerville Baptist Church of Christ. History A post office was established at Ackerville in 1892 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1940. The community was named in honor of the Acker family of area residents. Area code 334 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for southeastern Alabama. It was created on January 15, 1995, in an area code split from area code 205. and was the first new area code in Alabama since the implementation of area codes in 1947.
