Achieve Academy
Achieve Academy (commonly Achieve or Choice) is a public alternative school located in Wylie, Texas, United States. It is part of the Wylie Independent School District. History The DAEP and Choice programs were located at the Wylie Special Programs Center from early 2006, serving only 16 students. By mid-2009, the enrolled had increased to 26, and the Special Programs Center was renamed to Achieve Academy. In October 2010, construction began on a new building for Achieve, where it has remained since completion. Programs Achieve Academy offers two distinct programs for its students: The Discipline Alternative Education Program (DAEP) and Choice Academic High School. For both programs, the majority of courses are done through Edgenuity, an online school curriculum. Courses that require end-of-course assessments are done in traditional classroom settings. Wylie Independent School District (Collin County, Texas)
Wylie Independent School District is a school district based in Wylie, Texas, United States and covers much of south central Collin County. Wylie ISD serves most of the city of Wylie, including the city of St. Paul, a portion of the city of Murphy, and the Collin County portion of the city of Sachse. Enrollment has grown to just over 17,000 students. The average student to teacher ratio is 17:1. In 2009, the school district was rated " recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. Wylie, Texas
Wylie is a city and northeastern suburb of Dallas, that was once solely located in Collin County, but now extends into neighboring Dallas and Rockwall counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located on State Route 78 about northeast of central Dallas and centrally located between nearby Lavon Lake and Lake Ray Hubbard. History Originally called Nickelville, reportedly after the name of the first store, it was organized in the early 1870s. The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway laid tracks a half mile north of the original townsite in 1886. End Of Course Tests
The End of Course Test (EOCT, EOC, or EOC Test) is an academic assessment conducted in many states by the State Board of Education. Georgia, for example, tests from the ninth to twelfth grades, and North Carolina tests for any of the four core class subjects (math, science, social studies, and English). North Carolina schools administer an EOCT in English II, Math I (Algebra I), Biology and Math 3 (Integrated Mathematics). The official purpose of the test is to assess both individual and group knowledge and skills. EOCTs are mandatory and require a minimum score for graduation eligibility. Expulsion (education)
Expulsion, also known as dismissal, withdrawal, or permanent exclusion (British English), is the permanent removal or banning of a student from a school, school district, college or university due to persistent violation of that institution's rules, or in extreme cases, for a single offense of marked severity. Colloquialisms for expulsion include being kicked out of school or sent down. Laws and procedures regarding expulsion vary between countries and states. The practice of pressuring parents to voluntarily withdraw their child from an educational institution, termed off-rolling in the UK, is comparable to expulsion.
