Accokeek Creek then flows southeast to meet Potomac Creek at Crows Nest Point just upstream of the Potomac River. Topographic Wetness Index
The topographic wetness index (TWI), also known as the compound topographic index (CTI), is a steady state wetness index. It is commonly used to quantify topographic control on hydrological processes. The index is a function of both the slope and the upstream contributing area per unit width orthogonal to the flow direction. The index was designed for hillslope catenas. Accumulation numbers in flat areas will be very large, so TWI will not be a relevant variable. The index is highly correlated with several soil attributes such as horizon depth, silt percentage, organic matter content, and phosphorus. Methods of computing this index differ primarily in the way the upslope contributing area is calculated. Accokeek (plantation)
Accokeek was a 17th-century plantation on Accokeek Creek in Stafford County, Virginia, United States. Built with the forced labor of enslaved people , Accokeek was the first seat of the prominent Mason political family in Virginia. In 1653, the tract of land that would become Accokeek was granted to John Withers, who then sold it to Colonel Valentine Peyton (1627-1665). In 1662, Peyton sold the tract, along with granted to Peyton, to Captain George Mason I. George Mason I (5 June 1629–1686), the progenitor of the prominent American landholding and political Mason family, made his permanent residence along Accokeek Creek on a hill between present-day State Routes 608 (Brooke Road) and 621 (Marlborough Point Road) in Stafford County, Virginia.
