Abukar Hassan Mohamoud
Abukar Hassan Mohamoud, also known as Kadaf (1969? – 28 February 2012), was a Somali activist and the manager/director for the independent Somaliweyn Radio in Mogadishu, Somalia. At the time of his murder, he had been working on a re-launch of Radio Somaliweyn, which had been attacked and looted by Al-Shabaab in 2010. Personal Mohamoud had a wife and two daughters. He was an activist, and police were said by the Committee to Protect Journalists to have beaten him twice and arrested him for publishing what police said was false information. Career Mohamoud worked as the manager/director of the independent Somaliweyn radio station in Mogadishu. He had been trying to relaunch Radio Somaliweyn after it was raided and looted by Al-Shabaab insurgents in May 2010. Abukar Umar Adani, also transcribed as Abukar Omar Adan, is a businessman from Mogadishu. He has been mentioned as the chief financial backer of the Islamic Courts Union. He hails from the Warsangali clan (a subclan of Abgaal). As of 2008, he lives in Djibouti having fled Somalia following the defeat of the ICU by Ethiopian forces. In September 2007, Adani rejected Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Ghedi's offer to return to Mogadishu and participate in the second round of the Somali National Reconciliation Conference, saying that he has no plans to return to Somalia until the Ethiopians leave. Fartun Abukar Omar (born August 3, 1986) is a Somali athlete. Biography She represented Somalia at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, despite her country having been without a government for thirteen years at that time. She took part in the women's 100 metres race, and finished last in her heat, nonetheless achieving a personal best of 14.29 seconds. She was 18 at the time of the event. Leila Abukar
Leila Abukar ( so, Leyla Abukar, ar, ليلى أبو بكر) is a Somali-Australian political activist. Personal life Abukar was born between 1974 and 1975 in Somalia. She attended a private school in Mogadishu. When the civil war broke out in 1991, her father and eldest brother were killed by militants. Abukar's mother subsequently took the family to a UN asylum center in Kenya. The teenager therein volunteered as an office interpreter, teaching children and raising awareness on reproductive health. In 1997, Abukar moved alone to Australia through a women-at-risk program run by the Australian High Commission. Soroptimist International group workers helped her settle into her new surroundings in Moorooka, Brisbane, with her family later joining her.
