Abramowicz, Abramovich, Abramowitz, and Abramovitz are variant spellings of a name meaning "son of Abraham" among Slavic language speaking peoples; it is a common surname amongst Ashkenazi Jews, for whom it is commonly Hebraized to ''Ben-Avraham'' (בן-אברהם) upon immigration to Israel. It was also one of the many surnames of which were historically given by the returning Crusaders to their children, in recognition of their father's visit to the Middle East. Daniel Stanley Abramowicz (born July 13, 1945) is a former American football player and coach. He played wide receiver in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers and college football at Xavier University. Early life Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Abramowicz is of Polish/Irish descent. He attended Steubenville Catholic Central High School. When he was a 5-10, 155-pound senior at Catholic Central, Abramowicz didn't attract much attention from college coaches. The only school that offered him a football scholarship was Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He went to Xavier and, as a sophomore, caught 18 passes for 257 yards in his first varsity season. His junior year, he finished with 50 catches for 738 yards and eight touchdowns, helping Xavier to an 8-2 season. Tomasz Abramowicz (born 15 February 1979 in Ełk) is a Polish footballer who currently plays as a midfielder or forward for Victoria Czermin. Football career Abramowicz began his career as a trainee with Stal Mielec. He made his Ekstraklasa debut on 6 April 1996 as a substitute in a 2–0 defeat against Pogoń Szczecin and scored his first goal on 15 May in a match against GKS Bełchatów. Abramowicz ended the 1995–96 season with one goal in seven league appearances. But Stal finished 17th and were relegated to II liga (second league). After the 1996–97 season Abramowicz moved to Zagłębie Sosnowiec. Yehuda Meir Abramowicz ( he, יהודה מאיר אברמוביץ, born 24 July 1914, died 20 April 2007) was an Israeli rabbi and politician. He served as general secretary of Agudat Yisrael, which he represented in the Knesset from 1972 until 1981, and as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset between 1977 and 1981. One of his achievements was the introduction of legislation requiring drivers of vehicles to wear seat belts.
