Abhijit Pohankar
Abhijit Pohankar (born 29 June 1975, in Mumbai) is an Indian classical instrumentalist. He plays classical music on the keyboard. Early life Abhijit was born to Indian classical vocalist Ajay Pohankar. He is the grandson of Susheela Pohankar of the Kirana Gharana. He learned for some time with santoor player Shivkumar Sharma . Career After playing classical music on a keyboard, he started venturing into world music and fusion music. His biggest album was Piya Bawari with his father Ajay Pohankar, and in that album he experimented with classical music fused with lounge music. His latest project/band is called Panch Tatva and also Urban Sufis where he experiments with Sufi Music and electronica. Ajay Pohankar
Ajay Pohankar (born 24 February 1947) is an Indian classical vocalist belonging to Kirana Gharana school of Hindustani classical music. Background and career Ajay Pohankar ( mr, अजय पोहणकर) was born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh in a Deshastha Brahmin Marathi family, where his father was a lawyer. His first Guru was his mother Sushilabai Pohankar, a classical vocalist and a musicologist of Kirana gharana. At a young age of 11, Pohankar was invited to perform at the annual Sawai Gandharva Music Festival in Pune His sister, Swati Natekar, is also a singer based in London. Santoor
The Indian santoor instrument is a trapezoid-shaped hammered dulcimer, and a variation of the Iranian santur. The instrument is generally made of walnut and has 25 bridges. Each bridge has 4 strings, making for a total of 100 strings. It is a traditional instrument in Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir, and dates back to ancient times. It was called ''Shatha Tantri Veena'' in ancient Sanskrit texts. Development In ancient Sanskrit texts, it has been referred to as ''shatatantri vina'' (100-stringed vina). In Kashmir the santoor was used to accompany Music of Kashmir, folk music. It is played in a style of music known as the ''Sufiana Mausiqi''. Shivkumar Sharma
Pandit Shivkumar Sharma (13 January 1938 – 10 May 2022) was an Indian classical musician and santoor player who is credited with adapting the santoor for Indian classical music. As a music composer, he collaborated with Indian flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia under the collaborative name Shiv–Hari and composed music for such hit Indian films as ''Faasle'' (1985), '' Chandni'' (1989), and ''Lamhe'' (1991). Sharma was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1986 and the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan (India's fourth and third highest civilian awards) in 1991 and 2001. Hariharan (singer)
Hariharan (born 3 April 1955) is an Indian playback, bhajan and ghazal singer who predominantly sings in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. He has also sung over 15,000 notable songs in 10 regional languages including Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Sinhala and Bhojpuri. He is an established ghazal singer and one of the pioneers of Indian fusion music. In 2004, he was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India and is a two-time National Award winner. Rajan-Sajan Mishra
Rajan and Sajan Mishra ( hi, राजन और साजन मिश्रा) are brothers, singers of the khyal style of Indian classical music. They were awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2007, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, jointly in 1998, the Gandharwa National Award for 1994-1995 and the National Tansen Samman 2011-2012 on 14 December 2012. Rajan Mishra died on April 25, 2021 at St. Stephen's Hospital in New Delhi due to a heart attack caused by COVID-19 complications. Pankaj Udhas (born 17 May 1951) is an Indian ghazal and playback singer. He started his career with a release of a ghazal album titled ''Aahat'' in 1980 and subsequently recorded many hits like ''Mukarar'' in 1981, ''Tarrannum'' in 1982, ''Mehfil'' in 1983, ''Pankaj Udhas Live at Royal Albert Hall'' in 1984, ''Nayaab'' in 1985 and ''Aafreen'' in 1986. After his success as a ghazal singer, he was invited to appear and sing for a film by Mahesh Bhatt, ''Naam''.
