Aberaeron F.C.
Aberaeron Amateur Football Club is a Welsh football team based in Aberaeron, Ceredigion, Wales. The team currently play in the Central Wales League Southern Division, which is at the fourth tier of the Welsh football league system. History The club's website suggests the club was formed in the late 1800s. The club were a founder member of the Cardiganshire League and saw success as six times champions of the top league (four times in the 1950s) and nine times winners of the league's cup competition. In 2010–11 they joined the newly created Mid Wales Football League Division Two. The following season they were crowned champions and promoted to Division One for the 2012–13 season. Aberaeron
Aberaeron, previously anglicised as Aberayron, is a town, community, and electoral ward between Aberystwyth and Cardigan, in Ceredigion, Wales. Ceredigion County Council offices are in Aberaeron. The name of the town is Welsh for ''mouth of the Aeron'', derived from the Middle Welsh ', "slaughter", which gave its name to Aeron, who is believed to have been a Welsh god of war. The population was 1,520 in 2001, and 1,422 in 2011. History and design In 1800, there was no significant coastal settlement here. The present town was planned and developed from 1805 by the Rev. Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne. He built a harbour which operated as a port and supported a shipbuilding industry in the 19th century. The Central Wales Football League ''(formerly the Mid Wales Football League)'' is a football league in Wales at tier 4 of the Welsh Football pyramid, run by the Central Wales Football Association.
