Abdulaziz Al-Maqaleh
Abdul Aziz Al-Maqaleh (Arabic:; 1937 – 28 November 2022) was a Yemeni poet and writer. He followed the school of free poetry and he was the Yemen's first poet to win the Al-Owais cultural Award. Life and career Al-Maqaleh was born in 1937 in the village of Maqaleh in the governorate of Ibb and studied and finished his BA in 1970. In 1977, he received his master's degree and PhD from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. From 1982 to 2001, Al-Maqaleh worked as the President of Sana'a University, and then as the Head of the Center for Studies and Research Yemen, Sanaa. Al-Maqaleh died in Sana'a on 28 November 2022, at the age of 85. Ibb Governorate
Ibb ( ar, إِبّ ') is a governorate of Yemen. It is located in the inland south of the country with Ta'izz Governorate to the southwest, Ad Dali' Governorate to the southeast, Dhamar Governorate to the north, and short borders with Al Bayda' Governorate to the east and Al Hudaydah Governorate to the west. It has an area of 5,344 km² and a population estimated at around 1,665,000 in 2004, making it the most densely populated governorate in Yemen outside of San'a city. Its capital is Ibb, which, along with Jibla, are extremely significant historic cities. The province contains many attractions in districts such as Yareem, Ba'dan and Al-Sabrah. Abdullah Al-Baradouni
Abdullah Al-Baradouni ( ar, عبدالله البردوني; 1929–1999) was a Yemeni writer, poet and critic. He published 12 poetry books as well as six other books on topics such as politics, folklore, and literature. He is considered Yemen's most famous poet. Early life Al-Baradouni was born on 18 October 1929 in Zaraja, and grew up in Dhamar Governorate, Yemen. He contracted smallpox at the age of five, leading him to completely lose his eyesight by the age of six. He began school in his village at the age of seven, and two years later moved to Dhamar city where he enrolled at the Shamsia School. When he was 13 years old, he simultaneously started reading old poetry and writing his own. As an adolescent, he satirized the Imamate in some of his poems which he circulated in secret, and in 1948 was arrested and thrown into prison for nine months.
