Alexander Abalakov
Alexander Nikolayevich Abalakov (russian: Алекса́ндр Никола́евич Абала́ков; born 29 November 1959) is a Russian politician and member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Early life and education Alexander Abalakov was born on 29 November 1959 in the village of Zalesovo, Altai Krai, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. In 1977, he enrolled Novosibirsk Electrotechnical Institute, from which he graduated with honors in 1982 as a certified electrical engineer with a degree in Information and Measuring Technology. Career In 1979, he began his career as a laboratory assistant in the research sector. He worked at his occupation in nuclear and tool-making industry from 1982 to 1989. In 1989, he, with the help of his companions, established and took over a cooperative, which is the ancestor of today's F1 Business Group. Vitaly Abalakov
Vitaly Mikhaylovich Abalakov (russian: Вита́лий Миха́йлович Абала́ков) ( – 26 May 1986Great Russian Encyclopedia (2006), Moscow: Bol'shaya Rossiyskaya Enciklopediya Publisher, vol. 1, p. 9) was a Soviet chemical engineer, mountaineer and inventor. Brother of Yevgeniy Abalakov, another famous alpinist, he made the first Soviet ascent of Lenin Peak in 1934 and two more ascents of this mountain. In 1936 he also made the ascent of Khan Tengri, where he lost several fingers and part of his foot. In 1938, he and others from his team were arrested by NKVD and were under investigation until 1940. He was accused of "open public propaganda" of western mountaineering techniques and "diminishing" domestic alpinists' achievements and being a "German spy". Abalakov is credited with such inventions as camming devices in the 1930s, Abalakov thread (or V-thread) gearless ice climbing anchor, and many other climbing equipment innovations. Yevgeniy Abalakov
Yevgeniy Mikhaylovich Abalakov (russian: Евгений Михайлович Абалаков; 23 March 1948Great Russian Encyclopedia (2006), Moscow: Bol'shaya Rossiyskaya Enciklopediya Publisher, vol. 1, p. 9) was a Soviet mountaineer and sculptor. Abalakov was born in Yeniseysk. He is noted for making the first ascent of the highest point of the Soviet Union - Stalin Peak (later renamed ''Communism Peak'' and eventually ''Ismoil Somoni Peak'', its current name) (7,495 m) on 3 September 1933 as a member of the 26th detachment of the Tajik-Pamir Sovnarkom expedition. At the beginning of the German-Soviet War Abalakov went to the front. Abalakov died on 23 March, 1948 in Moscow, in obscure circumstances, while preparing for the ascent to the Victory Peak. His brother, Vitaly Abalakov, was also a famous mountaineer.
