Aage Dons
Aage Bergishagen Dons (19 August 1903 – 20 October 1993) was a Danish writer. He is best known for his novels, ''De uønskede, Frosten paa Ruderne'', and ''Den svundne tid er ej forbi''. Life Dons was born on 18 August 1903 in Svanholm, Frederikssund, Denmark to Hans Bergishagen Dons (1849–1930) and Frede Henriette Gottlieb (1869–1957). He had originally studied to be a musician. Dons made his writing debut in 1932 with ''Walpurgisnacht'', a radioplay which was later released as a book in 1935 along with his first novel ''Koncerten''. The majority of his published works were novels and collections of short stories. Svanholm
Svanholm is a country estate and former manor west of Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1978 an association of over 100 persons bought the estate to create Denmark's largest intentional community. The Svanholm collective grows its own food and was one of the pioneers of organic farming in Denmark. As of January 2006, membership consisted of 70 adults and 35 children aged 0 to 80, jointly owning around of farmland, park, and woodlands. The name comes from ''svan'' meaning "swan" and ''holm'' meaning "islet"; ie. Svanholm means "Swan-isle". Geography The Svanholm estate is place within the north regions of the village of Skibby in Krogstrup parish, on the Hornsherred peninsula between Roskilde Fjord and Ise Fjord on the north coast of Zealand. De Gyldne Laurbær (English: The Golden Laurel) (earlier: Boghandlernes Gyldne Laurbær) is a Danish literature award, which was established in 1949. The award is handed by ''The Committee De Gyldne Laurbær'', formerly ''Boghandlerklubben'' (The Bookshops' Club). The prize is given annually in February or March. Originally the award was a laurel wreath, a golden pin with an inscription, some money and a book gift worth 2500 DKK. Today the award is a laurel wreathe, a diploma and a book gift worth 2500 DKK. The award is handed at a ceremony arranged by the publishing house which has published the winning book and by the Committee De Gyldne Laurbær. Early in January every year the committee sends out ballot to all the Danish bookshops, which then give their vote for a Danish book which was published the year before.
