''A Talent for Murder'' is a 1983 British television film directed by Alvin Rakoff, starring Angela Lansbury, Laurence Olivier and Hildegard Neil;Parish p.38 the 1981, Edgar award winning Broadway theatre, Broadway play of the same name, written by Jerome Chodorov and Norman Panama, starred Jean-Pierre Aumont and Claudette Colbert. The film was produced by the BBC and originally airing on BBC Two in December 1983 in the UK, and on Showtime (TV network), Showtime in January 1984 in the US. Set in a New York City, New York country mansion but shot in Britain, Lansbury's performance as a crime writer anticipated her long-running role in the CBS show ''Murder, She Wrote''. Mystery is a fiction genre where the nature of an event, usually a murder or other crime, remains mysterious until the end of the story. Often within a closed circle of suspects, each suspect is usually provided with a credible motive and a reasonable opportunity for committing the crime. ''Murder, She Wrote'' is an American crime drama television series, created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson and William Link, starring Angela Lansbury, and produced and distributed by Universal Television for the CBS network. Charles Keating (22 October 1941 – 8 August 2014) was an English actor. Background Keating was born in London to Roman Catholic parents who had emigrated from Ireland, Charles James Keating and Margaret (née Shevlin) Keating, Keating moved to the United States via Canada with his family as a teenager. He was working as a hairdresser in Buffalo, New York, when a customer suggested he try out for a local play, making his stage debut in 1959 with the Buffalo Studio Theatre. Keating found steady work with the Cleveland Play House repertory company and was on tour when he met his future wife, actress Mary Chobody.
