George (or Jorge) Louis “A” Martínez is an Ecuadorian Americans, Ecuadorian American journalist who is currently a host of ''Morning Edition'' on National Public Radio. He joined ''Morning Edition'' in July 2021. Prior to being host of ''Morning Edition'', Martínez hosted ''Take Two'' at KPCC (radio station), KPCC and ''In the Zone'' for ESPN Radio on KSPN (AM). Early life George (or Jorge) Louis Martínez was born to Ecuadorian immigrants and raised in the Koreatown, Los Angeles, Koreatown area of Los Angeles. He was named for Jorge Luis Borges, his grandfather's favorite author. He attended Daniel Murphy High School and Los Angeles City College, earning a bachelor's degree in journalism at California State University, Northridge in 1995. Morning Edition
''Morning Edition'' is an American radio news program produced and distributed by NPR. It airs weekday mornings (Monday through Friday) and runs for two hours, and many stations repeat one or both hours. The show feeds live from 5:00 to 9:00 AM ET, with feeds and updates as required until noon. The show premiered on November 5, 1979; its weekend counterpart is ''Weekend Edition''. ''Morning Edition'' and ''All Things Considered'' are among the highest rated public radio shows. The show was hosted by Bob Edwards from its inception until it was retooled for a two-anchor format in 2004 with the introduction of Steve Inskeep and Renée Montagne. Montagne left the show in 2016, and was replaced by Rachel Martin. Four regular anchors currently host the show on a rotating basis, including Inskeep and Martin. KEIB (1150 AM) is a commercial radio station in Los Angeles, California. Owned by iHeartMedia, the station brands itself as ''The Patriot'', and broadcasts a talk radio format. The station's studios are on West Olive Avenue in Burbank. By day, KEIB is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations in the U.S. At night, to minimize interference to other stations on 1150 AM, it reduces power to 44,000 watts. The transmitter uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array, located in the City of Industry.
