''A Grande Música'' was a Brazilian music television series aired on Televisão Educativa between 2001 and December 2007, when the channel ceased to exist. It was well noted for appearances by renowned flamenco and classical musicians and concertos. The channel regular features performances by the likes of Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira (OSB), Orquestra Petrobras Sinfônica and Cia. TV Educativa do Rio de Janeiro (also called as TVE Brasil or TVE RJ) was a major Brazilian public TV network based in Rio de Janeiro, now defunct. It was founded in November 5, 1975 and ended on December 2, 2007, being replaced by TV Brasil, the Brazilian federal government channel. TVE Brazil coordinated with TV Cultura and other regional public stations a nationwide public television network. For many years, TVE Brazil was fairly well watched amongst Brazilians, with some 16 million viewers reported. Until the beginning of the 1990, TVE Brazil was under the supervision of the Brazilian Ministry of Education. Until 2007, each medium was administered alone, there was no central body and every public station operated separately. Concerto
A concerto (; plural ''concertos'', or ''concerti'' from the Italian plural) is, from the late Baroque era, mostly understood as an instrumental composition, written for one or more soloists accompanied by an orchestra or other ensemble. The typical three- movement structure, a slow movement (e.g., lento or adagio) preceded and followed by fast movements (e.g. presto or allegro), became a standard from the early 18th century. Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira
The Brazilian Symphony Orchestra ( pt, Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, OSB) is a Brazilian orchestra. Founded in 1940, it is located at Avenida Rio Branco, downtown Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the country's foremost orchestras, performing more than 5,000 concerts since its inauguration. History The creation of the OSB was an idea of three teachers of the National School of Music - Djalma Soares, Antão Soares and Antônio Leopardi. Excited by the NBC Orchestra tour of Brazil, under the direction of Arturo Toscanini, they sought the maestro José Siqueira to take the initiative. With the support of corporate and political personalities and with special publicity in the newspaper O Globo, the OSB emerged as a corporation in 1940. Quinteto Villa-Lobos is a Brazilian wind quintet, founded in 1962 with the intention of popularizing Brazilian chamber music, featuring the diverse compositions of Heitor Villa-Lobos. Cristina Ortiz (born April 17, 1950, in Bahia) is a Brazilian pianist. Biography Born in Bahia, Brazil, Cristina Ortiz began her studies in her home country before moving to France with Magda Tagliaferro.
