AYMA
AYMA (Armenian Young Men's Association) in Nicosia is a cultural and sporting club of the Armenians of Cyprus. A member of the international federation AYMA, it was founded in 1934 in the Armenian quarter of Nicosia, with colours black and white and first president Anania Mahdessian. The club has a Scouts movement – the AYMA 77th Scouts – which is part of the Cypriot Scout Movement. The club operates a junior Football Academy. In the past it has had teams in hockey, darts and table tennis. Vartkes Mahdessian
Vartkes Mahdessian (Armenian: Վարդգէս Մահտեսեան, Greek: Βαρτκές Μαχτεσιάν) is a prominent businessman in Nicosia, Cyprus, managing two companies in Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates and the Representative of the Armenian community in the Cyprus House of Representatives since 2006. Vartkes Mahdessian was born in Nicosia, Cyprus on 13 November 1950. After graduating from the Melikian-Ouzounian School and the English School in 1970, he received his Business Administration diploma from Hatfield Polytechnic and then a master's degree in management in 1974. His professional career began in 1975 with an Italian-Greek cable manufacturer as Area Manager for Iran. Cypriot First Division
The Cypriot First Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Α΄ Κατηγορίας) is the top tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Since February 2016, it is sponsored by Cyta and is thus officially known as the Cyta Championship. The league is contested by 14 teams and runs from August to May, with the three lowest-placed teams being relegated to the Cypriot Second Division, and replaced by the top three teams in that division. Pezoporikos Club Larnaca ( el, Πεζοπορικός Όμιλος Λάρνακας, ''Pezoporikos Omilos Larnakas'') was a Cypriot sports club based in Larnaca with football, basketball and volleyball teams. Founded in 1927, the football club joined the Cypriot Championship in 1938, winning it twice as well as one Cypriot Cup. The colours of the club were green and white. In 1994 the club merged with EPA Larnaca and they formed AEK Larnaca (). The club also had a basketball and volleyball department and were basketball champions four times and five times cup winners. Since the 1990–91 season, the club dominated the Cyprus Basketball by winning 3 championships and one cup in four years. Athlitiki Enosi Lemesou ( el, Αθλητική Ένωση Λεμεσού, translation=Athletic Union of Limassol) commonly known as AEL, is a Cypriot sports club based in the city of Limassol, most famous for its football team. The Cypriot Cup () is the main cup competition in Cypriot football, run by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA). It began in 1934, the same season with the Cypriot Championship. The Cyprus Football Association (CFA; el, Κυπριακή Ομοσπονδία Ποδοσφαίρου (ΚΟΠ), Kypriakí Omospondía Podosfaírou (KOP)) is the governing body of football in Cyprus and is based in Nicosia.
