Association Sportive de Monaco Basketball Club, commonly referred to as A.S. Monaco Basket, is a French-registered Monaco-based professional basketball club. They are a part of the Monaco-based multi-sports club of A.S. Monaco, which was founded in 1924. The club's basketball section was founded in 1928, and it currently competes in the French top-tier level LNB Pro A and the EuroLeague. The team plays their home games at Salle Gaston Médecin. LNB Pro A
The LNB Pro A, currently known for sponsorship reasons as Betclic Élite, is the top-tier men's professional basketball league in France. The competition has existed since 1921. Since 1987, the Ligue Nationale de Basket has governed the league. The bottom two placed teams from each season are relegated to the second tier level Pro B. The winner of the play-offs of the Pro A is crowned the French national champion. Competition format All 16 Pro A League teams play each other twice during the regular season. At the end of the regular season, the top eight teams qualify for the playoffs. The two teams with the worst regular season records are relegated to the 2nd-tier Pro B. ASVEL Basket, commonly known as ASVEL or sometimes as ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, and also known as LDLC ASVEL for sponsorship reasons, is a French professional basketball team that is located in the city of Villeurbanne, which is a suburb of Lyon, France. The club, which is the basketball section of the ASVEL multi-sports club, competes in the top-tier level French Pro A League. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between adjacent divisions. The LNB All-Star Game is the annual All-Star Game that is organised by France's professional club basketball governing body, the LNB. Robert Leroy Smith (born March 10, 1955) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. College career A 5'11" tall point guard, Smith played college basketball at UNLV, where as a member of the fabled "Hardway Eight", that was coached by the legendary Jerry Tarkanian, and that took UNLV to its first NCAA Final Four, in 1977. His jersey was honored by UNLV in 2022. Professional career Smith was selected by the Denver Nuggets, in the third round of the 1977 NBA Draft, with the 65th overall draft pick. Smith played for seven NBA teams, in as many seasons from, 1977 to 1984. Limoges Cercle Saint-Pierre, commonly referred to as Limoges CSP or CSP, is a French professional basketball club based in the city of Limoges. History The club was founded in 1929, but its peak was during the 1980s and 1990s, when they became the first French club to win a major European-wide title in a team sport, by winning the FIBA European League (EuroLeague) in 1993. In the 1999–2000 season, Limoges won its 9th top-tier level French League title, but it was relegated to the French second division LNB Pro B, after winning it, because of financial problems. AMG Sebastiani Basket, commonly known as AMG Sebastiani or Sebastiani Rieti was an Italian men's basketball club based in the city of Rieti. History Sebastiani Rieti was founded in 1946 by Luigi Padronetti and became active until the 1996–97 season.
